CHIPPENHAM Town are still waiting to play their first match of 2014 after tonight's Calor League Southern Premier Division clash against Arlesey Town was postponed.

The Bluebirds haven't played since the 3-3 league draw with Frome Town at home on Boxing Day and, following the postponement of Saturday's home clash with St Neots Town, this evening's fixture at Hardenhuish Park has followed suit.

Town were hoping to get the game played following the weekend call-off, but further heavy rain during the night and this morning dashed those hopes.

A club statement said: "After a pitch inspection this morning the match has been called off due waterlogged pitch and because of the high water table it will not be able to drain enough to be able to play the game this evening.''

It completes a hat-trick of postponements for the Bluebirds, whose New Year's Day fixture at nearby Hungerford Town also fell victim to the recent bad weather.

Mark Collier's Town are due to play St Albans City at Hardenhuish Park on Saturday (3pm).
