TROWBRIDGE will host Ivybridge in the South West Intermediate Cup final on Saturday after the Devon side pipped Wells 19-16 in the South West Counties showpiece at the weekend.
Ivybridge, who are top of Tribute Western Counties West, booked a trip to Doric Park this weekend (2pm) after winning the delayed encounter with the Somerset men, who lead the way in Trowbridge's Southern Counties South division.
Steve Ojomoh's Trowbridge reached the regional final by comprehensively downing Southern Counties North leaders Bletchley earlier this month and warmed up for this weekend's final by defeating Frome 24-0 to close to within five points of leaders Wells, who have two games in hand.
Victory over Ivybridge would send Trowbridge into a national semi final against the side to emerge from the London & South East Intermediate Cup competition.
That tournament is at the semi final stage, with Old Priorians taking on Rochford Hundred and Sevenoaks playing Guildford this weekend.
The winners of the last four clash would then play the side to emerge from the North and Midlands sections in the final at Twickenham towards the end of the season.
