Wells opened the scoring with an Aaron Cook penalty and a second Cook effort extended the advantage until moments before half time.

Trowbridge responded with a pushover try from Adam Sullivan, Lloyd Davis conversion to leave Wells a point clear.

With the elements in their favour, the home side forced Wells back with long touch kicks from Davis.

This was followed almost from the restart with a good try from Jackson Szabo, rounding the defence at pace to score near the posts, giving Davis a simple conversion.

Wells stepped up a gear and, from an Aaron Cook crosskick, put Stefan Davies in for their first try out wide.

Trowbridge fought back by again pinning the visitors back in their own 22.

Not to be outplayed, Wells forced their way back into the game with tries from Ben Knight and Cook, who missed both conversions in a tense last quarter.
