WARMINSTER wrapped up a mid-table finish in Dorset & Wilts One South with a bonus-point success at Folly Lane.

The away side dominated the early territory and possession without ever really threatening the Warminster line but the home scrum was in control and, against the run of play, they took the lead.

Centre Alex Payne made a clean break from his own half and grubbered a kick forward for teammate Jason Sprangle hack on further. A defender beat him to it but made a hash of retrieving it and predatory winger Herbeline Biscette scooped up and dived over, Sprangle adding the conversion.

Biscette nearly doubled his tally before the half was out when Warminster broke down the right hand side, but the final scoring pass to the winger was adjudged forward.

Payne and an opponent were sin-binned before the break and Dorset reduced arrears with a penalty after it.

The home side then began to take control and scored their second try through flanker James Rowbotham, who pole axed a defender to gallop in under the posts for a converted score.

The visitors hit back with a try of their own after weak tackling but, from a close range scrum, Sprangle picked up the ball and danced his way over the line.

With ten minutes to go, a slightly fortuitous score brought the bonus point.

A break out on the right hand side saw good quick hands involving Payne, Rowbotham and finally Gavin Pratt, whose pass inside to Biscette was fortunate not to be adjudged forward, Biscette scoring his 16th try of the season.

East Dorset’s afternoon ended in frustration with a man sent off.
