'ECSTATIC' coach Steve Ojomoh paid tribute to a monumental victory for his Trowbridge side as they lifted the RFU Intermediate Cup at Twickenham this afternoon.

Trowbridge rose to the occasion at the home of English rugby to come out on the right end of a thrilling final against Leek, with the Doric Park men winning 22-19 thanks to tries from Karl Parry, Jackson Szabo and Sean Jones, with Lloyd Davis kicking a penalty and two conversions.

And that was to the delight of former England international Ojomoh, who saw his team delight the hundreds upon hundreds of travelling Wiltshire fans in the stands at Twickenham.

"It's hard to describe - I'm just ecstatic,” said Ojomoh.

"I'm pleased for the town, the club and all of the players and the supporters.

"We got to the club at half-past-nine this morning and there were hundreds of well-wishers there - we just had to do it for them.

"We deserved it. We've worked hard all season and after losing two games in the first month, we've always been playing catch-up.

"We've been on the road in cup final after cup final but we wanted the big prize, and we've done it.”

Trowbridge captain Matt Howard saluted a herculean effort from his team this season, particularly in the previous rounds of the national competition, as they ended their campaign in fairytale style.

He said: "Against Ivybridge, we were defending on the edge of our own five-metre line with two minutes to go and against Guilford, we were down to 13 men for a large part of ten minutes but we held our line at the end and got that crucial turnover when they were hammering our line.

"Today, they had the opportunity to kick for the three points to take it to extra-time but I think they thought momentum was on their side.

"But we managed to hold them off for a few phases and got that crucial turnover.

"To get here is one thing but to get here and win; words can't describe it."

Prop Sean Jones, playing in what he plans to be his last game, was delighted to put a smile on the face of his home fans.

"Nerves crept in a bit towards the end and when we could see the end in sight, they (Leek) were just relentless,” said Jones.

"I think mistakes were always going to be made but we did a job in the end and we're so happy."

"The whole town has been behind us, so to go home and give something back to them is massive - absolutely massive."
