A 96-STRONG field of competitors braved the hills of the Bratton Valley Run in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Associa-tion on Saturday.

Peter Veleski and Diane Hier of the Avon Valley Runners won the men’s and women’s events at the 11 km event, now in its eighth year.

Race organiser Dot Reeves said: “I was very glad at the turn-out and the weather was good for the runners.

“Once we tote up how much was made we’ll be sending a cheque to the association.”

A one mile run was held for the Year Five and Six children of Brattan Primary School.

Ethan Ross, 10, was the winner of this event followed by Isaac Blake, nine, and Ethan Fielder, 10. All those that took part were given medals.

Teaching assistance Sharon Wykes said: “It was a fantastic day, we had 20 children running and there were a lot of family members to cheer them on.”
