LAST season, I spent a lot of time talking about how we’d suffered a loss every week but this year, it’s win after win and that’s a great feeling.

It’s nine from nine now for the season – it’s been a tremendous effort.

Everyone, from the players, to the management and to the committee, has been enjoying our success and we even had the sponsors, Wadworth, come down to watch at Corsham on Monday. They said just how happy they were with the results we’ve been getting.

The game against Dorset got off to an odd start. Most teams that win the toss opt to bat first at Corsham because the wicket does get flatter but they put us in and we were over the moon with that.

We got off to a good start in the first innings but there were four guys that got 50s and none of them went on to make centuries.

We were happy with 332 but we could have reached the 400-mark and really put the pressure on them. Then we bowled really well to give ourselves a lead and the position we were in.

The score we had wasn’t too dissimilar from games last season – myself and Mike (Coles) got the team into the dressing room and said that the yardstick of how far we’d come would be if we could carry it on in the second innings.

Jayden Levitt hit a great century, allowing Ed Young, Henry Langford and Ashur Morrison to put runs on the board for us to declare.

We then put them under a lot of pressure and had seven wickets by lunchtime on the final day. It was a shame Dorset managed to put together a bit of a fightback but we put them under enough pressure to take the last wicket and maximum points.

We’re obviously chuffed with that but we’ll have to be mindful of those few little mistakes when we come up against top sides like Devon or Cheshire if we want to think about winning the title.

Three-day cricket requires an awful lot of concentration, so to have picked up nine wins, including two from two championship matches, is a real achievement.

We’ve also got plenty of players that can come in to score runs and take wickets.
