WINSLEY made it two from two in the Wiltshire Division as they notched up an emphatic 10-wicket victory at Calne last weekend.

The villagers, who beat Devizes last week, were indebted to a five-wicket haul from bowler Kegan Smart before Jeremy Smith and Charlie Holton steered Winsley home to a comfortable win at Beversbrook.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Smart taking the early wickets of Jordan Butler and Thomas Richards on his way to ending the afternoon with figures of 5-45.

Calne skipper Dan Knight made 46 whilst Glen Robinson weighed in with 26. Winsley’s Ben Strange also turned the screw as he took 3-24, with the home side skittled for 156 in the 40th over.

The visitors took until midway through the 27th over to cruise to victory without loss, with Smith hitting 86 off 84 balls and Holton 55 off 77 as Winsley eased to 157-0.

Elsewhere, Trowbridge suffered a narrow eight-run reverse as they were toppled by in-form Marshfield.

James Williams led the way for hosts Marshfield with a knock of 85 whilst Dave Jenkins (39) and Jeremy Bond (31) also weighed in.

Mike Reynolds and Rob Edginton did their best to stem the tide as they took 3-19 and 3-42 respectively, with the home side all out for 228 in the penultimate over.

But the run chase proved too much for Alex Hart’s men, who fell agonisingly short of their target.

John Carroll top-scored with a knock of 56 whilst Scott Mitchell also chipped in with a half-century as he was unbeaten on 53.

Wes Marshall (24) and skipper Hart (18) also contributed but 3-23 from Marhsfield’s Thomas Lamb helped put the dampeners on Trowbridge, who were eventually skittled for 220 in the 49th over.

Westbury loss but Weaver shines for Warminster

WESTBURY came out on the wrong end of an 82-run defeat against promotion-chasing hosts Swindon at the County Ground in the Glos/Wilts Division.

Swindon openers Marc Williamson (42) and Adam Tucker (43) put on 85 for the opening wicket and Adam Tribbick added 43 later on as Swindon reached 244-8 from their overs.

Clark Evans took 3-55 for the visiting side.

Opener Jared McDonald scored 45 for Westbury but he found partners in scarce supply as their wickets were taken regularly.

Late knocks of 25 from Evans and Richard Oakley (24) bumped up the total but Westbury were dismissed in the 41st over for 162, Tucker taking 4-19.

Tom Weaver’s half-century helped Warminster secure a three-wicket home victory over visiting Gloucester City Winget at Sambourne Road.

John Powell took 3-26 and there were two wickets each for Marcus Brown and Tom Davie as Winget were all out for 205 in 47 overs.

Wicketkeeper Scott Montgomery scored 40 and Tom Collinson 34.

Opener Weaver hit 51 and shared a partnership of 96 with Pete Hickerton (31) for the second wicket before Desmond Kruger (24) and Davie (22) weighed in to see their side to a winning score of 209-7 in the 44th over.
