ADAM Collington admits that being a manager has been no less stressful than he remembers but the Westbury United boss is delighted to be back in charge of a local side at Meadow Lane.

Collington, who spent the 2012-2013 season in charge of Warminster Town, was named as Matt Bown’s successor in May and the former Warminster chief is hoping that he can help drag Westbury away from the lower reaches of the Toolstation League First Division this season.

The Meadow Lane chief has recruited former utility man Kevin Shinn and winger Grant Gunning, who both played under him at Warminster, as well as defender Kyle Edwards.

“I did a bit of fitness coaching at Frome last year but I wanted to be involved with management again. It’s still as stressful as ever but it is nice to be back,” said Collington.

“If we can get away from where we’ve been in the last few seasons, that would be great.

“It would be nice to get a mid-table finish or even break into the top eight.

“I think that we’ve done well in pre-season and I’m planning to bring in three or four Army lads that will be good additions.

“We’ve managed to keep the nucleus of the team that was here last season and there hasn’t been a massive overhaul. We’re looking forward to the start of the season.

“We’re going to try and win as many of our games that we can in the first month and see where that takes us.”
