WEYMOUTH recorded their first victory at Hardenhuish Park since their demotion from the Conference South five seasons ago, writes WIL HULBERT.

The Dorset side had to come from behind to earn the three points with a brace of headers from experienced striker Tim Sills and a Stewart Yetton goal, before a late Chippenham penalty saw a grandstand finish.

Weymouth were the first to show with Yetton being involved as he saw a shot blocked on the line.

He then volleyed wide a long clearance from Weymouth keeper Jason Matthews before his cross-come-shot was touched away by Kent Kauppinen.

Matt Jones, the son of Chippenham assistant Tom, and on loan from Swindon Town skewed a shot wide in the Bluebirds first threat on goal, before Chippenham took the lead on 26minutes from a Luke Ballinger corner that was headed home by skipper Greg Tindle.

Weymouth equalised on 38 minutes when Sills headed home from a corner.

In the final minute of the half, not for the first time this season, Chippenham conceded a goal surrounded in controversy.

At a Weymouth throw, Jones was deliberately obstructed but the offence went unpunished and Shephard was able to cross and Sills gave the Dorset side the lead when he headed home his second.

After the break Darren Edwards saw a shot blocked, while Yetton continued to be a threat to the home defence.

After a mistake by Tindle, he rounded Kent Kauppinen but fired wide.

However just past the hour mark he seized on another defensive error to lob the ball home.

Shephard almost made it four when his 35-yard free kick smacked against a post.

Jones’ headed effort was saved by Matthews, at the other end Sills side-footed wide while a James Guthrie free kick was headed over by Tindle.

A scramble in the Weymouth box saw two shots blocked, whilst Matthews dropped Ballinger’s shot for a corner and was booked for dissent.

Chippenham pulled a goal back two minutes from time when substitute George Pawley was fouled in the area by Matthews, who escaped what would have been his second yellow card, and Ballinger converted the resultant penalty.
