ADAM Collington saw his side deliver their worst performance since he took over as Westbury were beaten on Tuesday.

Wells opened the scoring mid-way through the first half through striker Jamie Howson and he went on to score two in the second half to complete his hat-trick.

Collington, who has only been in charge of Westbury since the beginning of the season, made changes from the side that narrowly lost to Andover Town in the FA Vase at the weekend but expected more from his team.

“It was by far our worst performance since I have been in charge of the side,” said Collington.

“We performed really well in the cup and I made a few changes which probably weren’t the right changes to make, so I take a bit of the responsibility.

“Saying that I still put out 11 players who could have won the match and I feel really let down.

“It was a really tough match at the weekend and we matched them for 90 minutes, so it probably had a bit of an effect on the players.

“I am hopeful I will get a response from the players because we have had some great performances and they have shown me what they can do, but we need to get some wins.”

Wells opened the scoring on 33 minutes when Howson got on the end of a move by Dan Catley and Billy Manning to lob the advancing Collington.

In a game of few chances Westbury’s Dan Hurkett gifted the ball to Howson and he produced a clever chip to make it 2-0 on 69 minutes.

United thought they had a goal back late on when DJ Wheeler’s free kick bounced off Henderson to Nathan Hallett-Young who prodded the ball over the line but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Howson completed his hat-trick a few minutes from time when he played a one-two with Jake Greenhalgh before planting the ball past Collington.

Westbury finished the game with 10 men when Gary Tugwell fouled Manning and was sent off in the last minute of normal time.
