BRADFORD on Avon crews were in fine form at the recent Gloucester Rowing Club Regatta.

Club captain Andy Taylor won his Masters F1X semi-final, but lost out in the next round. However, Taylor and vice captain Ching Kilby went on to win the Mx Masters E/F semi against an experienced Dart & Totnes Rowing Club crew and the final against clubmates Anne-Marie Leflaive and Andrew Carpenter.

Mike Frost lost his Novice status by winning the Masters C/D novice singles.

Tamsin Brewer sculled in the women’s J16 1X but lost out in an early heat. On the second day, Frost won his first race in an IM3 sculling event and later won an IM3 double sculls with Gavin Langford.

The new combination of Frost, Langford, Mike Knott and Max LeFlaive, coxed by Kilby came through an IM3 four heat against a Henley crew and went on to win their semi-final against Bristol Ariel.

A second BOARC crew of James Cambray, Adam Swain, Andy Pope, Jack Buxton and cox Benjamin Pocock lost to the Cambridge 99 crew that went on to beat the Kilby-coxed crew in the final.

Brewer and Max Leflaive were narrowly beaten in the mixed IM3 double sculls by an experienced crew from Hereford Rowing Club, while two crews took part in the women’s IM3 double sculls, the latter crew drawing an extra heat and winning three races to make the final against Taunton Rowing Club, in which they lost out.

New pairing Laura Moorfield and Emma Pullen sculled in a round robin event for crews who had previously not won a race, beating Gloucester but losing to a crew from Swansea.
