MELKSHAM Town manager Darren Perrin says that he will experiment with playing strikers Gary Higdon, Dan Kovacs and Dan King at the same time as he looks to keep his team on the goal trail.

King, who has joined Melksham from near neighbours Bradford Town, was on target, along with Higdon, Mike Perrott and Ryan Bennett in Saturday’s 4-1 home win over Cadbury Heath.

Then on Monday evening, Perrin’s men drew 2-2 with Brislington at the Conigre, with top-scorer Higdon netting a brace.

“Dan King showed his class with a man-of-the-match performance on Saturday and I have to say thanks to Paul Shanley and Bradford for waiving the seven days – I know there’s seen to be a rivalry between the clubs but there’s a lot of respect there,” said the Melksham chief.

“You can never have too many good strikers and I’ll have to find a way to accommodate all of them in the same team because there are a lot of goals there.

“We could have gone top of the table if we’d won on Monday and when you hear some of the figures being banded about for what’s being paid at some of the other clubs, that just shows how well we’re doing.”

Perrin added: “We had 200-odd fans at the ground on Monday and the game was a huge advert for Western League football.

“Word is getting around the town about what we’re doing and we’ve had the highest attendances of any team in the league.

“We want to try and finish in the top eight if we can and maybe do well in one of the cups, be that a nice run in the FA Vase, the Les Phillips or winning the Wiltshire Senior Cup for a third time in a row.”

Kovacs returns to the Melksham squad for this weekend's trip to Sherborne Town.
