DEREK Graham is hoping that his Warminster Town side won’t be caught cold by any more last-minute rearrangements this season.

With Warminster expecting a free weekend, a number of Graham’s players jetted off for a stag do last weekend whilst the Weymouth Street joint-manager was also away on holiday himself.

But a last-gasp fixture change saw Warminster forced to take on high-flying Cribbs with a weakened side last Saturday, with a goal from top-scorer Jack Miluk not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat.

“We had a free weekend so a bunch of the lads went off on a stag do and I went to Corfu with the wife - we had to play a scratch side,” said Graham.

“If we’d had our full side, we would have had a chance at winning the game.”

Warminster travel to Calne Town in the opening round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup this weekend.

Graham added: “Back when I was in charge of Amesbury, we won the Senior Cup back in ‘94.

“We played Swindon Supermarine, who’d won the Hellenic League, and it was quite a turn-up. We were supposed to have played at the County Ground (Swindon Town’s home) but that match got changed to Calne.

“So I like playing at Calne, even though they usually seem to beat us there.”
