TREVOR Rawlings says that Corsham Town’s defeat at the hands of Cribbs left a sour taste in the mouth as two major decisions didn’t go his team’s way.

Corsham were beaten 4-2 in Bristol but Rawlings was left pointing the finger at two key incidents, both involving youngster Keiron Gleed, where the visitors were denied the chance to change the face of the game.

“We lost 4-2 fair and square but I just felt that there were some big decisions that the officials didn’t give us, which could have changed the game,” said the Southbank boss.

“Keiron Gleed has nipped in and had a shot, and their keeper has cleared it away but the ball was clearly over the line.

“The linesman wasn’t up with play and the he and the referee have just looked at each other and ended up not giving the goal – even their fans said it was over the line and that could have made it 1-1.

“In the second half, Keiron was tripped on the edge of the box and the ref’s played advantage. The ball’s still there so he’s carried in into the box and been taken out but he’s blown up and brought it back for the free-kick.

“We’ve been denied a goal and a penalty and I’m still pretty annoyed about it. It’s happened before and you keep thinking that these decisions are going to even themselves out but it hasn’t happened yet.”

Matt Jenkins and Sam Ockwell grabbed Corsham’s consolation goals and Rawlings is hoping that his team’s lack of luck with the officials doesn’t carry on into this weekend’s clash with high-flying Wincanton Town.

He added: “It’s not as if this has been happening against the sides that are struggling. We had something similar happen against Welton and it seems to happen against the teams that are up in the mix with us.

“I hope that we get a bit of luck if we need it at Wincanton.”

Top-scorer Levi Cox and Sam Pring are set to miss Saturday’s game.
