FROME Town slipped into the bottom two of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division following their loss at Burnham last night.

In yet another midweek away fixture, Ollie Taylor reduced the deficit after the visitiors trailed at 2-0 at half-time but Frome conceded a third just before the end after playing most of the second half with ten men after Kris Miller had been shown two yellow cards.

The Robins were playing in their eleventh away league game in their first fifteen league matches, meaing thier fans will have been starved of league action for seven whole weeks when they play the scheduled home match against Redditch on November 8th.

Burnham were the first to show on Tuesday as Romaine Walker let fly with a long-range effort that moved in the air and required Darren Chitty to produce a good save as he dived to his left and tipped the ball behind for a corner.

After Burnham had gone close again through Tom O’Regan, they took the lead in the tenth minute as a move on the right led to the ball finding Nick Kabamaba, who initially mis-kicked but had time to get the ball under control and shoot past Chitty from 15 yards.

Burnham continued pressing as Brad Hewitt headed a free-kick wide in the 19th minute, and as they carried om turning the screw, Mark Cooper was forced to clear off his own line after a dangerous left-wing cross from Walker.

But then Frome weathered the storm and had a half chance in the 36th minute as pressure from a corner allowed Taylor to set up Jake Hutchings but a scramble enabled James Reading to punch clear,.

And then on the stroke of half-time, Burnham scored a psychologically important goal as a quick break on the left allowed Kabamba to shoot against the post and Josh Webb was on hand to drive the rebound into the net.

Frome reduced the arrears and made it 2-1 just after the break as the ball was worked forward to Taylor, who controlled, turned and planted his shot into the net from 20 yards off the inside of the post.

But then Burnham came back strongly and Chitty pulled off a brilliant save from O’Regan after he was set up by Kabamba.

Frome’s poor disciplinary record this season once again reared its ugly head as full-back Miller picked up two yellow cards in a short period of time on the hour mark, leaving Adrian Foster's men to play the last 30 minutes with ten men, and from that moment on there was only going to be one winner.

Burnham made the most of their numerical advantage and substitute Kofi Lockhart-Adams somehow managed to miss a header from three yards as he dived to connect with a right-wing cross.

Chitty then produced a stunning save to deny O’Regan, who had let fly with a skidding low shot that was heading for the far corner.

Eventuall,y the pressure told once more and as Lockart-Adams bundled the ball home from close range with two minutes of normal time left, Frome slipped into the bottom two of the league.
