FOLLOWING the recent resignation of Steeple Ashton, pacesetters Castle Combe were one of the big winners.
Unlike their rivals Bradford United and North Bradley, who both lost the points they had gained from victories over Neil Taylor’s side, Combe, who had yet to play Ashton, opened up a three-point gap at the summit ahead of their meeting with Trowbridge Town Reserves, who themselves lost their only points to date.
Combe extended their advantage even further thanks to a 3-1 win over Trowbridge in a game that saw both side reduced to 10 men after the sending off of Rob Jefferies for the hosts and Kieran McCaldon for Trowbridge.
Tom Bull and a Robbie Burton double put Combe three up before Michael Johnson grabbed a late consolation for Trowbridge.
