AFTER going two goals down in the first half, playing with ten men for all the second half and seeing captain and goalkeeper Darren Chitty stretchered off soon after half-time Frome Town eventually lost 3-1 at fifth placed St Neots Town last weekend.

After Robins goalie Chitty had produced a fine early save to deny Matt Spring, he was unable to do anything to stop David Hutton's strike in the 14th minute after he had picked the ball out of the air fired home with aplomb.

Home keeper Paul Bastock pulled off as stunning save after Cameron Brown had set up Aaron Rodriguez but then St Neots made it 2-0 three minutes before the break as a long-range shot from Drew Roberts flew into the net.

Frome’s Brandon Mundy was shown a straight red for a late tackle immediately after the second goal and Adrian Foster's men faced an uphill struggle to come back from a two-goal deficit with only ten men.

Frome’s injury worries increased greatly in the 55th minute as Chitty slid out to collect the ball but remained down after a lengthy stoppage and after a stretcher had been called for the influential captain and goalkeeper, he was replaced by Dylan Bonella, with Ricky Hulbert taking over the goalkeeper's jersey.

Hulbert pulled off a couple of good saves as he used his legs to deny a fierce drive from Ben Mackey and then did will to palm away a drive from Roberts and then the Robins reduced the deficit with 65 mintues on the clock as Jack Vallis flicked on a free kick and Lewis Haldane produced some sublime control on the edge of the box and curled a great shot into the top corner.

But the Saints made it 3-1 seven minutes later as a clipped cross was headed in by full back Max York.

Frome still went looking for something from the match and a rocket of a shot from substitute Omar Simpson thundered against the home crossbar in the 87th minute but it wasn’t to be and Frome are left to hope that the injury to Chitty is not as serious as the stretcher suggested.
