TROWBRIDGE'S Nick Blackwell could get his date with destiny after an agreement was reached for him to face British middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders for a second time.

While Saunders is the number one contender to face WBO world champion Andy Lee, the British Boxing Board of Control have announced that the reigning Lonsdale belt holder will tackle Wiltshire's 'Bang Bang'.

The board, in their monthly British Championship circular, stated that the contest will be promoted by Frank Warren with a date and venue yet to be set.

Saunders, who was last in action at the end of November when he won his grudge match with Chris Eubank jnr, however, is also mandatory for Lee's world crown.

Blackwell has unsuccessfully fought for the 160lb British title twice, firstly against Martin Murray in Wigan in June 2011 when he retired in the fifth round and then against Saunders at London's ExCel in December 2012, when he lost out on points.

The Trowbridge fighter is set to box on the undercard of Murray's world shot against Gennady Glovokin in Monaco next month although that is yet to be confirmed.
