DARREN Perrin surmised that Melksham Town could have ‘no complaints’ as they were bested by Buckland Athletic last weekend.

Gary Higdon’s 28th goal of the season served as little more than a consolation for Perrin’s men as they were beaten 3-1 and the Conigre chief is now refocusing his league leaders for Saturday’s home clash with Willand Rovers.

“We can have no complaints because Buckland were the better team on the day – sometimes that happens in football,” said Perrin.

“The pitch was heavy and sticky but that’s not an excuse because they were worthy winners. We’ll dust ourselves down and go again.

“We’re still in an incredible position. We’ve got another game against a very good side on Saturday and we have to be ready for that one.

“I’m looking forward to going up against someone I know very well from my time at Forest Green in (Willand manager) Scotty Rogers.

“If we want to finish in the top three this season, then these are the types of games that we have to be bouncing back in.”

Melksham remain top of the Toolstation League Premier Division following their loss to Buckland but their lead has been cut back to a point thanks to Bristol Manor Farm’s win over Longwell Green Sports.

Omar Simpson is a doubt for the Willand game.
