NOT for the first time this season Heytesbury left it late before snatching all three points from a game.

Up against fellow Division Two promotion hopefuls Westbury Town, a goal three minutes from time earned them a 3-2 success that saw them open up a three-point lead over their opponents at the top of the table.

Heytesbury, who are having their best season for a long time, looked impressive in the first half and took the lead on 30 minutes when Leigh Kennedy netted his 30th goal of the campaign.

Their lead lasted less than a minute as from the restart Westbury surged forward and Adam Bewley was on hand to turn the ball home following a goal mouth scramble to make it one each.

The second half was a scrappy affair and it was Westbury who went ahead when Ryan Earny scored from the penalty spot on 58 minutes to give his team a 2-1 lead.

Heytesbury battled back into the game and fashioned an equaliser on 75 minutes, Kennedy setting up Brendan Hind to square things up.

With three minutes remaining Heytesbury scored the all-important winning goal, Hind this time being the provider for Kennedy who fired home to give the villagers another huge win in their quest to get back into division one.

United FC and Trowbridge Rangers met at a very wet Clarendon Academy and it was the latter who came out on top winning 5-3 to claim bragging rights over their local rivals for a second time this season.

Shavon Allen’s first-half hat-trick was in vain for United as goals from Jordan Field, who scored twice, and Cameron Thomas took the teams in at half time locked together at three apiece.

Second-half goals from Will Stead his fourth in two appearances and Thomas his second of the game earned Rangers their seventh win of the season which should see them to a top five finish.

White Horse know that their chances of claiming back to back promotions are in their hands, but a 7-0 win at Worton & Cheverell has boosted their hopes of finishing in the top two while the defeat for Worton means that they will be playing third division football next season.

Jack Holdway opened the scoring for the White Horse with his first goal for the club which was quickly followed with his second and his double combined with Dale Rowland’s goal just before half time put their team 3-0 up.

White Horse added a fourth at the start of the second half, Paul Beavers making it 4-0. Kane Scott added number five before substitute Steve Munday knocked in number six.

Stuart Barber denied Jack Holdway the chance of a hat-trick when he opted to take a late penalty that Holdway wanted as he looked for a third of the afternoon.

Barber dispatched his effort with ease to save any grief from his teammates and leave the final score 7-0 in their favour.
