DEREK Graham reckons his Warminster Town troops have turned a corner mentally after they made it two wins in three with a solid display at home to Chippenham Park on Wednesday.

Town have found themselves scrapping it out at the wrong end of the table for much of the campaign but joint-manager Graham is starting to see more self belief in his side.

That was evident in the recent 2-1 success at Hengrove Athletic and narrow 1-0 loss against title favourites Welton Rovers, as well as the midweek win over Park.

Graham said: “The last few weeks have been really good for us and we want to try to continue that until the end of the season.

“The players we have here are so young but they are starting to realise they are better than they think. They are slowly maturing.”

Otis Young gave Warminster the lead midway through the first half at Weymouth Street in midweek.

They remained in control for the remainder of the match but had to wait until the dying minutes to make the points safe when an own goal doubled the lead.

Graham added: “It was a good game. The pitch was surprisingly good considering the recent rain and that probably helped us.

“We always had decent possession and when you’ve got that you aren’t on the back foot.

“They did have a fair bit of the game themselves but I think we deserved to get the win.

“They only really had one decent shot which had Carl Crabtree backpedalling but thankfully it went over the bar. Other than that he didn’t really have a lot to do.”

Warminster are at home again on Saturday when they entertain Wiltshire rivals Corsham Town.

“They gave us a bit of a thrashing up there earlier in the season so we would hope to do better,” added Graham.

“They are a good side and it will be a tough test for us, but no more so than Welton.

“As long as the performance is good, I am happy.”
