FROME Town boss Adrian Foster was left to lament a sloppy defensive display as they were easily beaten at high-flying Corby Town.

Wilson Carvalho put the home side in front in the first half before a second-half double from Shane Byrne sealed the three points.

Foster had no arguments about the result but admitted the Robin were the architects of their own downfall as they stay fourth from bottom in the table.

He said: “It flattered them a bit. We gifted the three goals. It wasn’t even as if they had to work for it.

“They won the battle in the middle of the park, which is frustrating, but the goals we gave away were poor.

“At this stage of the season you can’t afford to do that but we’ve been doing it all season.

“I expected us to go there and shut up shop and try to get a 0-0 but we couldn’t do that. We have to do better, it was a disappointing day.

“We aren’t playing that badly, it’s just we aren’t creating enough chances and we’re giving too many soft goals away.”

Tuesday night’s Somerset Premier Cup quarter-final away to Taunton Town was postponed and Frome are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Dunstable Town for a league clash.

Foster is hoping to have top scorer Ben Thomson back fit for that trip following injury.

“We have to go there and get at them straight away. We need the three points more than they do,” said Foster.

“Hopefully Ben will be back because we’ve missed him.

“When Lewis (Haldane) and Ben played together they looked a good partnership. It will be good for us if we can have him back fit.”
