BRADFORD Town’s run of three league wins on the spin came to an end on Wednesday night after a 2-1 defeat to Willand Rovers.

Bradford, who were missing six players through injury, went 1-0 down before the break from a set-piece.

The hosts restored parity shortly after half-time when Twaine Plummer was put through in the box by Sammy Jordan and the clubs second top goal scorer made no mistake from six yards out.

However Bradford were unable to get a second and after a mistake at the back the visitors were able to clinch all three points.

“It was disappointing because I felt we deserved a draw at the very least,” said manager Paul Shanley.

“I felt we played reasonably well and when we got the equaliser there only looked like one winner.

“We made a mistake for their second goal and it kind of rocked us a little bit.

“But I was pleased with the effort we put in, we battled with a number of players missing so we were a bit backs against the wall.”

The result capped off a disappointing week in which Bradford also crashed out of the Les Phillips League Cup.

Having been held to a 1-1 draw in regular time by Welton Rovers, Shanley suffered penalty heart-break , and not for the first time.

“Myself as a manager, I’ve not got a good record at penalties, I don’t think I have won one,” he added.

“Again the performance was decent second half and we had numerous chances to be three or four up and they have got a lucky goal.

“We should have been out of sight really but we didn’t take the chances that were presented to us.”
