A ROBUST and streetwise Truro City had too much experience for the Bluebirds and a late Alex Ferguson goal was not enough to earn Chippenham a draw.

An early free kick from James Guthrie saw visiting custodian Tom McHale nervously turn the ball out for a fruitless corner.

The White Tigers took the lead on six minutes when a low through ball found Isaac Vassell and he rounded Kent Kauppinen before rolling the ball home despite the attentions of two home defenders on the line.

Chippenham should have equalised five minutes later when Conor McCormack's ball over the defence left Charlie Griffin with only keeper McHale to beat but he headed over the bar.

The Cornish side then saw wayward efforts from Shane White and Jake Ash go way off target.

Kauppinen then did well to tip over an effort from Shane Krac. After the break Griffin's headed effort was blocked as was Ashan Holgate's follow-up shot.

Truro's Cody Cooke saw a 49th minute shot go high. Kauppinen then did well to deny Vassell's from close range.

Truro made the game safe 20 minutes from time when Kauppinen needlessly fouled Rob Farkins who had his back to goal on the byline and Shane White converted the resultant penalty.

The visitors survived appeals for a handball in the area on 76 minutes and two minutes later Alex Ferguson's shot was blocked.

The Bluebirds pulled a goal back three minutes into stoppage time when Ferguson tucked away a low cross from the right.
