TROWBRIDGE club captain Scott Mitchell is hoping that his team have put their troubles behind them and can enjoy a more serene Wiltshire Division campaign this summer.

The County Ground side endured a tumultuous term last year as they finished second-from-bottom, with skipper Alex Hart also opting to walk away from the club midway through the season.

But this summer, Trowbridge are will be looking to turn their fortunes around, with Mikey Reynolds – buoyed by a spell playing in Australia – stepping up from vice-captain to skipper the first team.

South African star Wes Marshall, who was due to captain Trowbridge this season, has opted to not to come back to Wiltshire but in his place, the County Ground outfit have recruited a player with first-class pedigree by bringing in 25-year-old former Lancashire man Andrea Agathangelou as their overseas recruit.

“There was a lot of change last year and we had a very young side – the average age of a lot of other teams in the league is late twenties but ours is about 20,” said Mitchell.

“Wes decided not to come back but we’ve managed to get in a really good player in Andrea.

“He was released by Lancashire last year and he’s going to travel around in the week to try and get in at a county but he wants to play for a club and that means he’ll play for us on the weekends.

“We’re really happy to have him in and I think the lads are excited to be playing alongside someone who’s been a first-class player.

“Mikey Reynolds will be the captain this year. In the past, I think he was a little bit worried about doing it but he’s been over playing for a club in Australia before the season.

“He did well over there and they asked him to go back, and I think that’s really boosted his confidence – he now knows that he can be captain.

“Hopefully, we can improve this year.”

Trowbridge start their 2015 season tomorrow when they welcome Calne, who they beat once and lost to once last term, to the County Ground.
