SECURING their status in the top tier of the Wiltshire County Cricket League will remain the focus for Box this season, according to captain Richard Foley.

After winning Division Two in 2013, Box secured a fine fourth-placed finish in Division One last summer.

But with the proposed restructuring of local cricket, Foley says that the villagers will need to finish as high as possible to ensure they maintain their place in the division.

“We were promoted from Division Two last year and we just wanted to stay in Division One, so to finish fifth was great,” said Foley.

“I was very happy with that but with the restructuring that’s going to be happening, I think we need to finish in the top five again to make sure we stay there – that’s what we’ll be trying to do.

“But I think that if we have our best team available, we could get top-three if we wanted to.

“Availability has been an issue at Box – we have players that will be away at uni and won’t come back into the team for a few weeks.

“But if we can try and keep a strong team for the rest of the season, I think we can do well.”

Box start their season at home to Nationwide House, who have been relegated from the Wiltshire Division of the West of England Premier League.

Foley added: “We’ll have to be wary of them because, unless they’ve lost a lot of players over the summer, they should be a good side.”
