HOT Chilli Triathlon Club’s Kirk Latham succeeded in his first World Age Group Triathlon Championship qualification attempt, coming fourth at the British Triathlon National Sprint Distance Championships in St Neot’s.

After a tough river swim, Latham dominated on the bike before a solid 5k secured a place on the team heading to Chicago in September.

Fellow Hot Chilli members Joason O’Callaghan and Latham’s brother, Scott, also had excellent National Championship races, with hopes of also qualifying at Dorney Lake in two weeks’ time.

Lysa Fairhurst was second lady and 18th overall at Blaenafon Triathlon in Wales, while at junior level, Freddie Webb was runner-up at the Cotswold Water Park Sprint Distance Triathlon.

Paul Clark won the Swashbuckler Middle Distance Duathlon in the New Forest, and was supported by strong results for Darren Phillips and Luke Maggs in the middle distance triathlon.
