DANNY Talbot is promising a slow burn to the start of his season before reaching a crescendo at the World Championships in Beijing in August, writes Kevin Fahey.

The Trowbridge Tornado and coach Dan Cossins have tweaked their plans after reflecting that in 2014, the British 200m champion may have been past his best before the European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

“I did so many races and peaked a bit early so this summer, we are trying to slow my season down,” said Talbot.

“I will keep training hard for the next month or so just to help me get my rhythm.

“We did some great work in America and I feel my endurance is the best it's ever been.

“In fact, I feel I am far better shape at this point than compared to last season.”

Talbot is planning to race next over 200m at the IAAF World Challenge in Holland on May 24 and is also hoping to get a place in the Rabat meeting, in Morocco, in June.
