WARMINSTER’S outside chances of the title look all but over after they were beaten by 10 runs at Biddestone.

Tom Davie’s men have now fallen to fifth in the table and are 20 points off the pace currently set by Rockhampton with two games to go.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Warminster did well to restrict Biddestone to a modest total of 170-7 off their 50 overs.

The wickets were shared around for the visiting attack, with Ankit Shastri’s 2-38 the pick of the figures, while the home side were indebted to an unbeaten 52 from Andy Flynn for getting at least getting them to score they had a chance of defending.

Despite momentum appearing to be with them, Warminster struggled to get going when it was their turn to bat and although a couple of players got themselves in, they swiftly got themselves out again as the game gradually slipped from their grasp.

Nick Hembury made a valiant 50 but he was the only man to offer and real resistance in the face of some fine bowling from Chris Baker (3-23) and Naeem Khan (3-34) as the visitors were eventually dismissed for 160 in the 46th over.
