WARMINSTER'S hopes of putting their previous week's Dorset & Wilts One South defeat behind them were dashed as a well-drilled Salisbury 2nd side outplayed them on Saturday.

The visitors found themselves penned back for the majority of the first half as Salisbury, aided by a strong wind, kicked to the corner.

Warminster's defence was working overtime but it took 15 minutes before Salisbury breached the line, using an overlap on the short side to go over for an unconverted score.

A penalty increased the advantage and before the half was out Salisbury added another try as their continuing pressure told against a creaking Warminster defensive effort.

The start of the second half could not have been worse for Warminster. When in possession of the ball they got turned over at a ruck and Salisbury quickly spun the ball wide and through the hands to take advantage of an overlap.

From then on it was pretty much one-way traffic as a further two tries followed, props Matty Dunford and Steve Rowbotham coming closest to scoring for the visitors.

In Dorset & Wilts Two North, Westbury suffered a 54-5 loss at Calne.
