FIRST Division Heytesbury booked their spot in the final of this season’s CDP Supply-sponsored Spring Cup thanks to a 4-1 victory over Division Two promotion hopefuls Calne Eagles.

Heytesbury got off to a great start and were unlucky not to take the lead in the opening few minutes with only the crossbar denying Leigh Kennedy.

It didn’t take the villagers long to break the deadlock and they and on seven minutes they were ahead, Jamie Howse played in Brendan Hind, who lobbed the Calne keeper for 1-0.

Kennedy and Ashley Caws went close to adding a second for Heytesbury but it was Hind’s goal that separated the teams at the break.

Heytesbury doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute, Howse and Kieron Edwards combined before the latter crossed for Hind to volley home his second of the contest.

Calne responded well and they reduced the deficit on 67 minutes though Adam Welch, however any hopes of a Calne fightback lasted four minutes.

Edwards saw his effort cleared off the line but Joe Martin was on hand to thread the ball through a crowed area to give Heytesbury a 3-1 lead.

On the stroke of full time the villagers confirmed their place in the final where they will face Luxol St Andrews Reserves when Edwards headed home a Kennedy corner to make it 4-1.

Luxol St Andrews Reserves came out on top in their Spring Cup semi-final clash at home to first division stablemates AFC Bradley, with goalkeeper Kieran Ramsey turning in a man of the match performance which helped earn his team a 3-1 success that took his team to a final showdown with first division Heytesbury.

Billal Karmouni’s goal for Luxol separated the teams at half time.

George Hall scored from the penalty spot to double Luxol’s lead and although Mike Ritson replied with a penalty for Bradley.

Luxol sealed their victory when substitute Jamie Hancock found the net within a couple of minutes of coming on.
