I THINK our team is capable of winning the MCCA Unicorns Knockout Trophy if we want to.

It was a good professional performance to secure a 56-run success over Suffolk.

We performed well, particularly early on with the bat, and all round it was great effort from the batting right through to the bowling and the fielding.

It was a great advert for Minor Counties cricket and I am surprised that Suffolk have lost all their games in the group because they were a decent outfit.

The way the group has panned out, whatever would have happened on Sunday, we would have been in with a shout of progressing into the quarter-finals going into the last game because it ultimately comes down to this upcoming game with Bucks.

It does, however, put us in a better position if we have a wet weekend and the game gets called off with no play, we’ll both get one point and we’ll go through.

It is all to play for and we have to go and win that game.

Ashur Morrison is back for this weekend and that is all water under the bridge as far as I am concerned.

Like I said, I think we can win the trophy if we can make sure we get the whole squad there and all wanting to play and all wanting to win.

We have had two trophy games at Warminster Cricket Club so far and the hospitality has been second to none and the wickets have been absolutely superb - it is a credit to Dave Bateman.

Meanwhile, James Vince was due to make his debut for England against Sri Lanka yesterday and that is absolutely superb.

James is somebody who has played for Wiltshire at minor counties level for us a few seasons ago and I am over the moon he has got a crack at it.

He has been there or thereabouts for a while and has continued to do well and got his chance.

I just hope he takes it. It has come about in difficult circumstances because of James Taylor being forced to retire and he has got his opportunity now.
