TEAM manager Neil Shardlow is sure there will be no soul-searching from his Wiltshire side as they look to put a heavy defeat behind them and reach the semi-finals of the Unicorns Knockout Trophy on Sunday.

Wiltshire began their Unicorns Championship campaign with a heavy loss inside two days at Cheshire earlier this week but now revert their attentions back to the shorter format.

Having been beaten so heavily last time out, Wiltshire would be forgiven for feeling down in the dumps but Shardlow is adamant that will be no need to fire up his troops when they travel to Dorset in the cup quarter-finals.

“We are heading back to the one-day game, back into a quarter-final and we have just got to get down there and try to continue our one-day form,” said Shardlow.

“We have got a decent side in one-day cricket, so it’s about putting a performance together.

“I think the players are quite philosophical about the Cheshire game. We know where we went wrong and we know what we had to do but when a wicket is doing a little bit and a lad (Ashley Davis) bowls as well as he did, it’s always difficult.

“Normally, I say to the guys: ‘Did you get out to a decent delivery or did you give your wicket away?’ To be fair, most of them said they got a decent ball and that’s not normally the case.

“We’ve just got to pick ourselves up and move on because there is a lot to play for this weekend.”

Wiltshire reached the last eight after recording three wins from their four pool games, finishing second in Group Four behind unbeaten Bedfordshire.

Group One winners Dorset also claimed three victories in the pool stage but lost their most recent one-day match at home to Devon.

Shardlow is therefore hopeful that Wiltshire can recapture their form from earlier in the competition to set up a semi-final showdown.

“We have only lost the one game against Bedfordshire, so we have just got to go into the Dorset game and try to get some confidence back,” said Shardlow.

“We have to go into it and play the way we have been doing in our other one-day games. If we do that, then we should be okay.”

Wiltshire have selected a 12-man squad for the trip to Dorset, with Steve Bullen, Jayden Levitt, Jake Roberts and Jon Sore all coming in having missed the Cheshire match. Luke De Souza, Mike Reynolds and Steve Warner all miss out.

WILTSHIRE: Michael Coles (Corsham, captain), Tahir Afridi (Henley), Steve Bullen (Corsham), Andy Carroll (Westbury), Patrick Grieshaber (Downend, wicketkeeper), Joe King (Corsham), Jayden Levitt (Bromsgrove), Jake Lintott (Clevedon), Ashur Morrison (Corsham), Jake Roberts (Potterne), Jon Sore (Swindon), Ed Young (Potterne).
