WE ARE positive going into the game with South Wales this weekend. We feel like we played pretty well in the last game and have got a couple of new faces this time.

We’ve got a couple who are on the cusp of the academy and a couple in the younger age groups and that is the way we should be going.

Rather than going around scouting to try and find people from outside the county, which is not what we are about, I would rather give some of the academy players some experience.

One of those new players is Corsham’s opening bowler James Arney, who has been on our radar for a couple of years and will be making his debut.

We have had a pretty settled seam attack, with Tahir Afridi, Jake Roberts, Steve Warner and Andy Carroll taking up the spots.

However, Tahir has got an injury at the moment, Jake has got a hamstring injury as well, so it is time to have a look at somebody else.

Both James and Nick Harrison have been opening the bowling at Corsham and have been bowling well this season and by all accounts, their stats add up.

James has come through the academy and taken some big scalps in Premier League cricket so we are giving him the chance to have a go at a three-day game.

It is very difficult to say how well the WEPL system is doing to help produce players for the county side because there are only two Premier League sides.

I think in the long run, with the Wiltshire League, it will be better and we’ll have a bigger pool to pick from.

We have been looking at the Wiltshire League, Owen Alsop coming back has been scoring runs for Chippenham and has earned the right to be back in the side.

Every game that we play we still want to win but the emphasis has changed a little bit to making sure we’re getting the experience into those new players.
