FROME Town assistant manager Matt Bown hailed his side’s performance as ‘perfect’ after a 4-1 away win over Cirencester saw them go top of the Premier Division.

It was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 13th minute as Cirencester’s Matt Liddiard handled the ball out for a corner, the referee awarded Frome a penalty which was successfully converted by Jon Davies to put them 1-0 ahead.

With half-time looming, Frome struck again, this time is was Mitchell Page who headed the ball into the top corner in the 38th minute making it two from two after he also scored in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Hayes and Yeading. The assistant manager warned his side about complacency during his half-time team talk but that was in vain as Lee Smith struck in the 49th minute for the Centurions.

“We were amazing, we started really well and had lots of confidence. We went into the break in the lead and told them to keep doing what they were doing and not to concede,” he said.

“What do we do? Go out in the second half, cross comes in and it’s a goal. 2-0 is always tricky because if we get it we put the game to bed, but if they get it then they have their tails up.

We did warn them about being complacent, but we rallied together really well and got the ball down and played.”

Despite the setback, Bown will be delighted with his side’s reaction to conceding as they regrouped and got themselves another two goals.

Cleverley, scoring a well hit volley from 20-yards, had Frome 3-1 with 20 minutes to go before Jackson killed the contest with an 87th minute finish to give the away side a 4-1 win. “Our ball retention was great, some of the football we were playing was the best I have ever seen from us - from a coaching perspective, it was perfect,” Bown added.

“We went 3-1 up and that was a great goal with technique and then we made it 4-1 to finish off a great team performance.”

Frome travel to St Neots Town on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Frome Town manager Nick Bunyard has admitted 98 breaches of FA Rule E8 relating to his betting activity between 13 September 2014 and 9 April 2016 and has requested a personal hearing.
