FROME Town suffered their heaviest defeat of the Southern League Premier Division season on Wednesday night when they were thumped 4-0 at home by Dorchester Town.

The Robins entered the game in confident mood following a 2-0 success over Biggleswade Town at the Blindmans Brewery Stadium on Saturday but fell apart in midweek.

The two sides looked well matched in the opening half-hour but when Nathan Walker broke the deadlock for the visitors soon afterwards – netting the first of a hat-trick – it was one-way traffic from there on in.

Walker pounced on a mistake by Conor Roberts to lob Frome keeper Darren Chitty to break the deadlock and more sloppy defending from the home back-line allowed Mario Mateus to make it 2-0 at the break.

Frome came out in determined mood after the interval but their hopes of a fightback subsided when they were reduced to 10 men midway through the second period, with Clayton Green given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Dorchester were quick to capitalise on the numerical advantage and Walker soon got his second with a free header from a free-kick before then completing his treble in the final minute.

Things had gone much smoother for the Robins at the weekend as a goal in each half saw them overcome Biggleswade.

Darren Jefferies put Frome in control just before the half-hour mark and Jon Davies made the points safe with a second in stoppage time at the end of the game.

Frome remain fifth in the table despite the midweek blip and play the first of three consecutive away matches on Saturday at Stratford Town.
