TOM Robson believes last year’s champions are starting to find their feet again after Trowbridge Town beat Corsham Town Reserve 4-0 on Saturday.

Having guided his side to the Wiltshire League crown last term, Keiran Baggs moved on to become assistant manager at Melksham Town under Darren Perrin.

Keiran’s dad Michael was set to take over the reins alongside Robson but family commitments has seen Robson going solo.

Having beaten Wroughton 1-0 the weekend before, Trowbridge followed that up with a comfortable win over Corsham as Matt Sharp netted a brace to add to goals from Shaun Percival and Connor McKay.

After a mixed start to the campaign, Robson is now seeing a settled side and hopes that they can now start closing the gap on early pace setters Cricklade Town and Shrewton United.

“Credit to Corsham, they were a young side, energetic and didn’t stop running for 90 minutes but we had a few older heads playing and I think it told,” he said.

“I was pleased with the performance and most of the lads would have been pleased coming off the pitch as well.

“I did anticipate, for the first five or six games, that it was going to be difficult.

“We didn’t have the same players playing every week, at Ludgershall (Sports) we had 11 players and myself on the bench but managed to get a draw there.

“Wroughton was the first week that we had a decent squad with us and we got the win there and that was the kick-start to our season.

“It was good that we only lost one of our opening games and we are looking to get back going now.”

Meanwhile, Cricklade remain top on goal difference after a 2-1 win at home to Marlborough Town; a brace for Sam Collier was enough to secure the hosts all three points.

While, Shrewton are keeping pace courtesy of their 1-0 win against Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves.

A hat-trick from Tom Jones helped Melksham Town to a 6-1 demolition of Beversbrook, Manuel Mesas getting the consolation goal for the hosts.

Wroughton bounced back from their defeat to Trowbridge with a 4-0 win over Bromham to lift them up to third in the table.

Wilts Calne Town were the other victors as they edged out Devizes Town Reserves with a 3-2 success, while Malmesbury Victoria Development played out a 2-2 draw with Ludgershall Sports.
