TROWBRIDGE head coach Dan Jeffries sees no reason why his side can’t emulate the one of 2014 after they started on their own path to Twickenham.

The Doric Park outfit booked their place in the final of the Dorset and Wilts Cup with ease as they secured a 43-14 win over Wiltshire rivals Devizes.

The victory has set up a clash with fellow Southern Counties South side Swanage & Wareham on November 12 and having re-recruited a large part of the side that made it all the way to the home of English rugby two years ago, Jeffries believes his side can replicate the achievements of Steve Ojomoh’s side, even if the word Twickenham is not being spoken of just yet.

“It is huge for the club,” he told the Wiltshire Times.

“Dorset and Wilts cup finals for any club don’t come around that often and we know what a win in that final sets you up for a chance to have a go at.

“For the boys, although they are not mentioning the word, it’s a chance for us to get to Twickenham would be huge.

“Particularly for the younger lads who weren’t involved in the last one.

“You can see that there is a real focus to them and they would like to have a crack at it.

“I think that this group of boys could have a good crack.

“The Swans, in the cup final, are probably the most successful Dorset and Wilts side in the county cup and that is a big thing for them.

“We will need to be at full strength and really focused to come away with that result.

“This side very much have the ability to make it to Twickenham.

“They are slightly rawer and that side had been together a bit longer, but the raw talent in guys like Lewis Jordan and Shai Bonnick is huge and they are only going to get better.

“In a couple of years’ time, we’ll be an exceptionally good side, it is just how quickly we can mature the side we have got now.”

While the cup takes huge importance at Trowbridge given their recent history, Jeffries is not prepared to take his eye off their Southern Counties South campaign, where he is still targeting a top four finish.

“We’ve had a really tough start to the league and we have probably played the four top teams in our first set of games,” he added.

“When we are trying to change things, we might drop a few points that we possibly wouldn’t expect to and that might have us just outside of promotion.

“But, we’ll be up in that top two by the end of the season, I am quite confident of that, the side has too much talent in it not to.”
