LEADERS Melksham Town A stretched their unbeaten run to a sixth game with a 1-0 win over Warminster Town Reserves thanks to an 88th minute winner from Kai Bush.

Beversbrook was the venue between struggling sides Potterne and Heytesbury, with the hosts starting with 10 players and through injury finishing it with nine.

Steven House put Potterne in front but Heytesbury’s Jamie Howse restored parity. After that, Potterne hit the goal trail as Rob Drown, Tom Lye and three more from House made it 6-1 at the break.

House added his fifth of the afternoon before the hosts lost Craig Fisher to injury. After that, Lye got his second, Wayne House added number nine and Lye then completed his hat-trick to wrap up a 10-1 win. Near neighbours Semington Magpies and Hilperton United met at Little Marsh, with the spoils shared in a 1-1 draw. Nathan Glass headed Hilperton in front but Sean O’Brien got Semington back on level terms.

It was second verses third at Codford Village Hall where hosts Stockton & Codford put their unbeaten start to the season on the line at home to Freshford United, who were out to avenge their Wiltshire Junior Cup final loss back in April.

A competitive game was won 4-2 by Stockton as former Freshford striker Jason Povey came back to haunt his former club with a first-half double. Sam McEntee gave the hosts the lead before Steve Roody restored parity. Stockton reclaimed the lead courtesy of Povey’s double and although Freshford clawed their way back into the contest through Waleed Bakali, Stockton sealed the points when Ashley Caws netted.

Westbury Town visited Trowbridge Town Reserves and returned with a 5-2 win. Dale Rowland was on target for Westbury to cancel out Saul Johnson’s opener for Trowbridge. Westbury were quick out the blocks after the break and went 4-1 up as Rowlands got his second before Jake Samuels scored twice. Jason Hughes pulled a goal back for Trowbridge before Gary Tugwell lashed home Westbury’s fifth.

Westbury United Reserves suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to high-flying Luxol St Andrews. Westbury defended really well in the opening 45 minutes to hold Luxol to a goalless first half. However, Mark Reynolds gave the visitors the lead on 60 minutes before Tom Rooney wrapped up the points.
