BRADFORD Town manager Danny Greaves doesn’t see any reason why his team should let their heavy defeat at the hands of league leaders Bristol Manor Farm put a dampener on their season.

Greaves’ men remain third in the Toolstation League Premier Division table but they were unable to prevent Farm from running out 4-1 winners at Trowbridge Road last weekend and extending their lead at the top of the pile to eight points.

Bradford’s Matt Morris notched in the second period to cancel out Troy Simpson’s scrambled effort but the visitors ran out comfortable winners through efforts from Ben Bament and Jordan Metters, and a James Moon own goal.

“Anyone seeing the scoreline might think that we got hammered but the truth was that our performance was very good and 4-1 definitely flattered them,” said Greaves.

“We left ourselves open trying to get back into the game and against a good team, you’ll get punished.

“We’ve lost twice in a row (Bradford were beaten 1-0 by Willand Rovers on October 15) but they’ve been against good sides and when you look at our start to the season overall, it’s been very, very good.

“Our job now is make sure that the lads aren’t down. We had a race night at the club after the game on Saturday, which all of the lads stayed for, and they were in good spirits.

“We’ve got another tough game next weekend against Street, who are level on points with us, so we’ve got to be ready for that.”

Bradford are waiting to discover the extent of the knee injury captain Mike Reaney sustained during last weekend’s home defeat.

In the First Division, Westbury United were unable to build on their victory over Bishop Sutton last week as they were put to the sword at Welton Rovers.

Martin Johnson grabbed an equaliser for James Goddard’s side after Chris Pile’s cross had been headed into his own net by Jordan Lawrence but that was as good as it got for Westbury as Malick Jammeh, Grant Price, Pile and Aaron Seviour all notched to hand Welton a 5-1 triumph.

Corsham Town’s winless run in the league was extended to five matches as they were beaten 2-1 at Roman Glass St George, with Lewis Russell’s goal proving little more than a consolation.

On Wednesday, Sam Clift got the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Warminster Town claimed a narrow victory at home to Ashton & Backwell United.
