WITH Division Two leaders Three Daggers in Junior Cup action, Bob Arberry’s Trowbridge Town A took full advantage of their opportunity to take over at the summit.

A 3-0 victory over Aces FC saw Arberry’s men take a two-point lead at the top of the pile.

Veteran striker Dean Gumm who has already bagged five goals this terms netted his sixth for 2-0 and the win was completed by 16-year-old Tom Caldicott, who unleashed a sublime 30-yard free kick into the top corner to seal the 3-0 success.

Melksham Town B defeated The Stiffs 5-2, however the game was a lot closer than the result may suggest as the Stiffs led 1-0 and were drawing 2-2 before losing out to Mark Lewis' side.

Chris Giles gave the Stiffs a dream start but Melksham turned things around to lead 2-1 at the break, Sam Robinson and Joe Read finding the net.

Steve Lewin got the Stiffs back on level terms but any though an upset was ended as further goals for Robinson and Read along with a second goal of the season from Callum Thorburn sealed victory for Melksham B.

A 4-1 win for Warminster Town A away at Trowbridge Wanderers Development earned them a sixth win of the campaign and saw them complete a double over Ross Pugh’s side having beaten them 7-1 on the opening day of the season.

Liam Gibbens towering headed on 39 minutes gave Warminster a half-time lead.

Two further goals from Gibbens made it 3-0 before Harry McHale-Ledbury pulled a goal back for Wanderers.

It was Gibbens who had the final say when he tapped home to bag his and Warminster’s fourth of the afternoon.
