NIGEL Tripp is adamant he will not walk away from Corsham Town despite uncertainty surrounding his future as manager.

Tripp only took over at the Southbank last summer ahead of the 2016-17 season but with the team currently fourth from bottom in the Toolstation League First Division table, it is believed that his position is now being reviewed by the club.

When contacted, Corsham confirmed that Tripp is still manager of the first team but would not comment further until a planned club statement is released.

Tripp stressed that he has no plans to step down from his post, although he conceded that his fate is now in the hands of the club’s hierarchy.

“There is a situation going on at the club at the moment but I definitely won’t be resigning,” said Tripp.

“I am happy with how things are going but there are people that feel a little bit different. I don’t really want to get into it because it’s a committee issue.

“From my perspective, we have got a good group of youngsters who are getting better. When I came here, it was with a three-year plan to get us out of this division and nothing has changed with that.

“Unfortunately, the people that brought me to the club are no longer here and there are new people who look at what we are doing a bit differently.

“It’s all in the hands of the committee but it’s a little bit unprofessional at the moment.

“My loyalty is with the players and the team, that’s what I came here for and nothing has changed.

“The only thing we can be judged on is the results and I understand that but we were never going to win the league this year.

“We want to build a club that can achieve something over a period of time. Some people can’t understand that you can’t win the league first time around.”

Corsham claimed a stunning 4-0 win away at Bishop Sutton on Saturday, although that is only their seventh league win in 30 matches this season.

The Southbank side headed into the game second from bottom in the table, although they have since climbed above both Calne Town and Welton Rovers.
