DESPITE playing with 10 men for the last hour, a penalty save from Kyle Phillips and a hat-trick from Jake Jackson gave Frome Town an impressive 3-0 victory at struggling Cambridge City.
Jackson very nearly opened his account in the very first minute only to be denied by a good save by Dean Snedker, however his first goal arrived eight minutes later as he turned onto a through ball and scored from just inside the area.
Frome captain Sam Teale was shown a straight red in the 32nd minute for a rash challenge inside the box, but Phillips saved low from Goldy Capela and Frome held onto their one-goal advantage until half time.
Jackson’s second came in the 52nd minute as he latched onto a through ball to round Snedker and roll the ball into the net.
Despite Cambridge’s efforts to get back on terms, the Frome defence covered everything they threw at them with both Clayton Green and Chris Gregan outstanding.
The icing on the cake arrived in the 90th minute as Ollie Knight set up Jackson for his second hat-trick of the season.
