WARMINSTER Town A top Group A of the Gooding Accounts-sponsored Division Two Cup after their 5-3 victory at Melksham Town B, who came from 3-0 down to level at 3-3 before conceding two goals in the final five minutes to suffer their second loss in the competition.

Warminster got off to a flyer and were 1-0 up inside with the opening minute when Liam Gibbens headed them in front.

James Bodmin’s excellent strike from 18 yards doubled the lead on 15 minutes and when Gibbens danced through the Melksham defence to make it 3-0 at the start of the second half it should have been game over.

Goals from Richard Wyatt, Dan Walker and Kai Bush got Melksham back on terms and heading for a share of the spoils, but with five minutes remaining Dewakar Gurung regained the lead for Warminster.

Deep in stoppage time Gibbens completed his hat-trick to seal victory for Rob McFerran’s side.

A 6-0 win for Calne Eagles over The Stiffs earned them a second straight win - and it is hard to see anyone other than Roy Wenham’s side finishing top of the Group A table.

Mickey Taraskevics top scored with a hat-trick, Karl Sharratt, Adam Welch and an Adam Stevens own goal made up the half dozen.
