FROME Town boss Josh Jeffries was happy to see his side secure their third consecutive 1-0 win at the weekend.

Marcus Mapstone’s header in the 36th minute was enough to see off the visitors Dunstable Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League.

While his side are enjoying a purple patch in form, the Frome manager is concerned about the size of his squad heading into this weekend’s double header with Kings Lynn and Chippenham Town.

“It’s been three clean sheets on the bounce. It wasn’t a great spectacle to be honest, it was a scrappy game and the pitch was bobbling,” said Jeffries.

“I can’t ask for much more really, three clean sheets and three wins on the bounce.

“It (squad size) just makes it more incredible. Over the last few weeks the squad has really been tested.

“This Saturday we go to Kings Lynn with one sub which isn’t ideal. We will hope we don’t pick up any injuries before the one on the Monday.

“It is what it is. We are at the end of the season and don’t really have a large enough squad to deal with it.”

Easter Monday will see Frome host Chippenham, who could well be champions by the time they get to Somerset.

If second-placed Leamington fail to win on Good Friday then the Bluebirds will claim the league table, but if results don’t go their way a home win over St Neots Town on Saturday will be enough to clinch the title.

The Frome chief is looking forward to welcoming the high-flyers this weekend, but wants to see his side remain focussed on their own performance.

“It’ll be a local derby in front of a big crowd. It’s a previous club of mine so it is a game everyone wants to be involved in,” he added.

“They (Chippenham) could have it done and dusted by the time they come to us. But it doesn’t make too much difference to us, either or, it doesn’t matter to us.”

This weekend Frome will be without Sam Teale after he broke his nose during the 1-0 win, while goalkeeper Kyle Phillips is also missing as he is expecting the birth of his first child.
