GIRLS teams from Melksham tasted success at the National Futsal Championships in Birmingham last weekend.

The U10s side, who had previously won the Wiltshire and South West competitions, finished as runners up while representing the region.

Melksham opened with a 1-0 win over Newhaven Girls before adding a 3-0 success over Harvester Girls to guarantee a semi final place.

Beaten 3-0 by Ross Junior in their final group match the semi final against Boldon CA went to penalties after a 1-1 draw, with Melksham edging through.

Against facing Ross in the final, Melksham fell two goals behind and despite halving the deficit, were unable to get back on terms.

Melksham's U12s side suffered an opening defeat to Crystal Palace but bounced back with a 3-1 success over Garston Ladies Tigers.

A follow-up 2-0 success against Bartestree Girls sent them to a last-four clash with Tottenham Hotspur Ladies where the Wiltshire side's run was ended.

The Melksham U12s squad featured Katie Malone, Elisha Patterson, Nynka Rutker, Georgie Brown, Anya Rudge and Evisha Pearce.
