CHIPPENHAM Town manager Mark Collier says his side are full of confidence after booking their place in the Wiltshire Senior Cup final with an 8-0 home win over Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

After sealing their shot at silverware, the National League South side will face either Salisbury or Highworth Town in the final.

The game, which was held at Melksham Town’s Oakfields stadium, got off to a quick start as John Beeden broke the deadlock with a goal in the 10th minute.

Michael Jones then made it two, as Chippenham established a healthy lead before the break.

The second half was one-way traffic as Josh Smile added his name to the growing list of scorers, he slotted home from 20 yards to make it three.

Beeden then doubled his personal tally with a close-range effort, before Smile’s free-kick found the back of the net to make it 5-0 to the home side.

Collier troops weren’t done yet as they rattled in a further three goals.

Robbie Pattern got one, in addition to Nick McCootie’s brace on his return from injury.

With the striker returning from injury, Collier says that alone is a huge boost to him and his side.

“We got 25 minutes into Nick and that is a big bonus for us,” said Collier.

“That was particularly pleasing that we were able to get some minutes into him.

“Now we just have to wait and see if he had any reaction to it, but he looked to be okay after the game.

“He will train again this week with the hope of being available on Saturday and then again for next week’s game on Tuesday night.

“That certainly gives us plenty of options. Now we have Jake Jackson, Andy Sandell, Karnell Chambers, Nick and Kaid Mohamed, who was unavailable to play on Wednesday night because he hasn’t played enough league games for us this season.

“We need options and we are going to use them all over the coming weeks.”

Reflecting on the performance, Collier says it was nice to see his side dominate the game from start to finish.

“Sometimes these games are a bit difficult because you get a lot of the ball,” he said.

“However, the playing surface was fantastic and we could pop it around for fun, it was a very very good performance.

“I don’t think they got near us.”
