TROWBRIDGE boss Dan Jeffries insists his side cannot afford to take mid-table Frome lightly this weekend as the club’s promotion push continues.

Jeffries’ men defeated eighth placed Yeovil 43-5 away from home on Saturday, returning Trowbridge to the top of the Southern Counties South Division.

Marlborough, currently in second, are three points behind the league leaders with three games remaining.

While a top of the table clash on April 14 between Trowbridge and Marlborough is likely to decide the outcome of the league, Jeffries admitted Frome will present their own threats this weekend.

He said: “We dropped points against Frome in this fixture last year.

“It’s a big local derby for us, we need to be professional, in control and take our chances.

“Frome won’t turn up and make it easy for us.

“In the past couple of seasons, we have exploited their areas of weakness on the pitch.

“Our front five have been the best in the league all season. In terms of preparation it will be business as usual, we’ll be looking to tighten up on areas we can improve in.”

Trowbridge’s latest win at Yeovil pleased Jeffries, in particular his side’s clinical finishing.

It’s something he wants to see more of this weekend as he looks to welcome Lee Fairclough, Henry Turner and James Davies back into the first team.

He said: “Yeovil were a potential banana skin, so it was good to get them out of the way.

“They picked a point from Corsham last weekend so they’re by no means an easy team to play.

“We took our chances well and were competitive when attacking, every opportunity we go we managed to get points.

“It’s an extreme story of our season. Earlier in the year we didn’t take chances in some games and we lost those.

“It’s good to have pressure at this time of the year. Our game against Marlborough will be huge but we must deal with Frome first, it’s a game we need to get five points in.

“We’re as strong as we’ve ever been.

“With Lee and Henry returning we’re in a good place.

“Other clubs don’t have the luxury we do regarding team selection. Having full availability isn’t something that happens often.”

Elsewhere in the region, Dorset and Wiltshire Division One North leaders Bradford-on-Avon edged closer to promotion with a 7-0 victory against Royal Wootton Bassett II.

The win means Bradford stretch their lead at the top to eight points over Combe Down with three fixtures remaining.

Avonvale are 10 points behind but do have a game in hand.
