WESTBURY United joint manager Neil Kirkpatrick was frustrated by the postponement of Wednesday night’s Toolstation League First Division clash with Wiltshire rivals Devizes Town.

Westbury could have leap frogged leaders Roman Glass St George with a win at Meadow Lane had the game gone ahead.

With the team in winning form, with four victories on the spin, including a 3-0 defeat of near neighbours Warminster Town on Good Friday, Kirkpatrick says in an ideal world they would have been able to keep up their good run.

“When you are playing well, which we have been doing in the last four games, you want to keep on playing,” he said.

“I was disappointed about Wednesday but now I think our fixtures are a little bit more spread out.

“It is what it is. At the same time, you don’t want to play on a pitch which is a real leveller, boggy and horrible.

“When we played Warminster on Friday, the pitch held up really well.

“Fair play to both sides, I think both teams played it the right way and we got through it.”

Warminster’s only game of the Easter weekend came against Westbury as their clash with Keynsham Town was called off on Monday.

They are set to return to action at the weekend, when they welcome pace-setters Roman Glass to Weymouth Street.

Corsham Town suffered a similar fate as their solitary fixture over Easter saw them comfortably beaten 3-1 by Devizes.

Joe King got the only goal of the game for Corsham, who were also forced to postpone their home game with Portishead Town on Easter Monday.
